RARE MCM Mint in Box - Vintage Freeman McFarlin Napco Mermaid Girl Wall Plaque:

VM841 - This is a really rare Freeman McFarlin Mermaid and 3 bubbles mint in the box. Although it was designed by Anthony Freeman in the late 40's before he became a partner with McFarlin in the early 50's, Napco got their hand in the pot and also distributed it under their label. The box has the Napco label on it. I am an avid collector of Freeman McFarlin mermaids and have the pink tailed mom (this one) and the 3 babies that were made to go with it also in the late 40's under just the McFarlin label when Anthony was the designer and not a partner yet. And I also have the set in pink that includes a mom and three different babies that was designed by Anthony when he was a partner with McFarlin so they have the Freeman-McFarlin label on them. I have included a picture from my reference book and I have also included a picture at the end of my sets with the two moms and the 6 babies.... each mom had 3 babies. I hope you find this as interesting as I did when I first started collecting mermaids! To the uneducated follower of Anthony Freeman's designs one would think this mermaid was created in Japan by Napco from looking at the label on the box. So untrue - it was created by Anthony Freeman at McFarlin Pottery in California! This set is definitely a collector item not only because the piece is rare but also for the history behind it. Please note when I ship, I will unhook the wire from the mermaid and bubbles and wrap them separately as they would most likely shift if kept in the box with the wire holding them. The box will be included too.
