Please make sure to read the entire product description before placing a offer:Structurally sound with the white fiberglass and transparent bases in remarkable good condition considering their age. In my personal collection for the last 25 years and lovingly taken care off. Quintessential space age collector’s piece but capable of fitting into any eclectic interior be it mid century modern or contemporary. Great fit with other furniture from the period including Eames, Saarinen, Panton, Aarnio, Bertoia, etc. Rare original color way in white and black. Classic and rare piece of design, generally attributed to Warren Platner (more recently to William Andrus) for Steelcase. It was sold by Steelcase under the name "Soft Seating". The whole set, #465, comprehending a sofa, two armchairs and the table created by Steelcase, Michigan, 1972.The white-color fiberglass table, that seems to float on a transparent lucite base, holds a mirrored top (mirror has a age-consistent patina - please ask more pictures). Color of fiberglass remains pure white; no major damage excepts a few scuffs and scratches here and there that could be retouched. Cushions show their signs of age. The sofa cushions features black vinyl upholstery and the two club chairs feature a black leather upholstery. The sofa cushions are worn down and torn along the edges. I patched them up with black duct tape for the time being. So the cushions need to be completely reupholstered. Foam appears to be mostly in good shape except perhaps for one of the club chairs. If this set fails to attract a buyer I will have set set reupholstered myself and probably keep them.

This rare and complete living room set by William Andrus for Steelcase includes a three-seat sofa, two club chairs and one coffee table. This timeless collectors set floats on lucite bases. This design was the epitome of Space Age Modern, nothing else quite encapsulates that era more than this Steelcase set designed by William Andrus in the 1970s. Great for families with kids - there are no sharp edges, every corner is rounded. While each piece stands strong on its own - this is a design that gets better with a complete set. And finding a complete set is extremely difficult, especially in the all-original white color.This William Andrus for Steelcase living room set would work great in a Space Age Mod, Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition.
