This piece is an original, published piece of art drawn entirely by Steve Ditko. Roy Thomas was the editor of the first Fanzine titled “Alter ego”. He would send free copies to prominent artists and writers. When he sent an earlier copy of Alter Ego to Steve Ditko, Steve responded with this thank you to Roy. The inscription inbetween the avatars that Steve Ditko drew reads “Thanks Roy for the copy of Alter Ego. I will enjoy it in the future as I have in the past".

This piece was then published in a later issue (number 8 and also in the frame) of Alter Ego by Roy Thomas.

Roy traded it to a student while he was teaching. It was purchased by Cloud 9 Comics in 2016. In 2025 we had the privilege to meet Roy Thomas at 2 Rivers ComicCon. There he authenticated it and told us the story behind the piece.

Once in a lifetime piece… published amazing spider-man interiors crack 250,000$ at Heritage sales. This is a rare opportunity to have an art piece depicting some of the greatest characters ever created by Steve Ditko all in one piece, at a fraction of the cost.

The art is museum mounted not glued or matted in the professionally designed frame. The medium is Inks on paper transferred to white cardboard.
