Inspired by Legacy - Some things are destined to be
The first pen to bear the Montblanc name was introduced around 1910. According to legend, the name Montblanc was created during a game of cards: "Why not just call it Mont Blanc? After all, it's black at the bottom, white at the top and is the greatest amongst its peers." The cap with the Montblanc emblem on its top was born.
The snow-covered summit, with its six glacial valleys, has since become one of the world's most respected symbols for finest European craftsmanship. This emblem, made of sapphire glass on mother-of-pearl, crowns the Montblanc Heritage Collection 1914 Limited Edition 333.
Pioneers And inventors -The simplo safety filler from 1914
Safety Filler Fountain Pens were the first important milestone in the history of Montblanc. The name described their decisive advantage - they could be carried safely in any position as they were virtually leak-proof when closed. Larger tanks were user-friendly as they increased the storage capacity of ink and the longevity of a single fill. The archetype of the Montblanc Heritage Collection 1914 Limited Edition 333 was a capacious Safety Filler nicknamed "Goliath" due to its imposing size. It was black, made of hard rubber and had a retracting nib mechanism.
The Simplo Safety Filler from 1914, nicknamed "Goliath", was the largest writing instrument ever manufactured by Montblanc. It was also one of the first writing instruments to use the famous Montblanc snowcap as an emblem.
Artisans and engineers -Montblanc Heritage Collection 1914
New materials, advanced technology and modern technical instruments allow Montblanc artisans to create solutions that go beyond the wildest dreams of the most visionary engineers from the early 20th century. The Montblanc Heritage Collection 1914 Limited Edition 333 honours its iconic ancestor in both its size and shape. Precious coral-coloured lacquer pays tribute to the Fountain Pen designs from the early 20th century, while the ingenious two-step screw mechanism is an absolute highlight and celebrates the pioneering character of all Montblanc Heritage Collection Editions.
Technology with a twist of creativity -The two-step screw mechanism
The two-step screw mechanism unites two diagonally opposed functions. Essentially it controls both the complex retractable nib movement and the piston filling function with just one pull of the cone. And despite its intricacy, the cone mechanism is as simple to use as is the crown on a timepiece.
Creativity with a twist of technology -The two-step screw mechanism
Engineered by the most experienced master craftsmen, the Montblanc Heritage Collection 1914 is a state-of-the-art Fountain Pen. Form, function and design set unsurpassed standards in the manufacture of contemporary writing instruments, while an obsessive focus on product detail characterises the inherent spirit of Montblanc.
A legend reborn -The Montblanc Heritage Collection nib
A nib not only creates a bond between an empty piece of paper and the thoughts of the writer, its responsiveness also defines the actual writing experience. The 750 solid gold nib, created for the Montblanc Heritage Collection, is inspired by the original Simplo Safety Filler nib. The shank, shoulder tines, triangle-shaped heart hole and iridium tip-point elegantly underline the avant-garde character of the Edition and help to ensure a soft writing experience.
The Montblanc Heritage Collection 1914 -A tribute to the historical richness of Montblanc
Inspired by one of the original Simplo Safety Fillers, this Edition sets its own priorities in terms of size and shape.
Strictly limited to 333 pieces, both cap and barrel are made of precious coral-coloured lacquer. The 750 solid gold fittings and the Montblanc snowcap, made of sapphire glass on mother-of-pearl, complete this extraordinary Edition while the ingenious two-step screw mechanism underlines the perennial character of Montblanc and the visionary traditions of our master craftsmen.
