The Emperor pits Darth Vader against Luke Skywalker, and Luke gets zapped in front of the Pit of Death after once again refusing to give in to the dark side, in this pair of truly amazing storyboard drawings by acclaimed artist David Russell. Mr. Russell has been a much-in-demand film artist, doing storyboards on titles likeBatmanfor Tim Burton;Who Framed Roger Rabbit?for Robert Zemeckis;The Color Purplefor Steven Spielberg;Terminator 2: Judgement Dayfor James Cameron, and many other popular features. His work has appeared in print as well, in books and magazines; his acclaimed Master Class on Storyboarding Art has been held all over the globe. Mr. Russell himself refers to the act of storyboarding as "directing on paper," and there's really no one better at this mostly unseen art. These amazing pieces are rendered in black ink, white paint, and gray wash on paper measuring approximately 9" x 4"; each drawing is affixed to a green paper Lucasfilm Studio sheet measuring 11" x 8.25". The sheets are noted as TR 15 and TR 46.
