Izsák Pfeiffer (Ács, 1884. 29 May – Dachau concentration camp, 1945. 3 May[1] ), Hungarian rabbi, poet, literary translator. His works are listed under the stage name Izsák Pap. His family was exterminated in the Holocaust during World War II, and his only surviving son in Israel is a doctor.
LifeHis father, Mór Pfeiffer, was brought up in the house of the principal of the Jewish school in Pápa, where he and his sisters often played Templar. First he went to the Benedictine grammar school, then to the Reformed college.
In 1911 he received his doctorate in philosophy in Budapest, and in 1912 he received a rabbinical degree.[1] During the Serbian occupation, he was distinguished by his patriotic behavior, so he did not receive a residence permit.[1]
From 1912 to 1944 he worked as a rabbi (Sümeg, Pécs, Monor), then he was deported to the Dachau concentration camp, where he became a priest of the camp. He died shortly after the liberation of the camp.[1]
