An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver straight Old English pattern eighteen person flatware service - boxed; an addition to our flatware collection

The pieces of this exceptional, antique Edwardian straight* sterling silver canteen of cutlery for eighteen people have been crafted in the Old English pattern.

The anterior surface of each handle is embellished with a contemporary engraved crest of a dexter cubit arm in armour, holding a fleur-de-lis.

The silver spoons are ornamented with a plain rounded heel to the reverse of the bowls.

The pieces of this Edwardian silver flatware set have been crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater in 1906.

This exceptional sterling silver English cutlery set is fitted to the original oak wood lift up lid and lift out tray canteen box, with a velvet lined interior.

Such straight, eighteen place services fitted to the original box are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

* 'Straight' means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.

This Edwardian silver flatware set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The original box shows some wear in keeping with age, but can still be considered to be in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
