Standing an impressive 8 feet 3 inches (100 inches) tall, this monumental bronze Guanyin is an extraordinary example of traditional Chinese Buddhist sculpture. Its commanding scale, serene expression, and finely detailed craftsmanship create a remarkable presence rarely encountered outside of temples or other important architectural settings.

According to its provenance and ownership history, this monumental Guanyin once stood in an old temple in China. During a period of urban development, the temple was demolished, and the sculpture was removed and eventually passed into private ownership. It is believed to date from around the turn of the 20th century, circa 1900.
