Contemporary Chinese Field SketchingBridge Scenery Ink Painting; Up forsale is a Chinese contemporary field sketching ink painting on paper of abridge scenery, dated likely 1950s. The painting depicts the 苏州虎邱 (Suzhou Huqiu)with a stream-overriding stone bridge in an arch shape on which some people areleisurely standing, watching and talking. Under the high bridge extends therocks-like walls at both sides of the stream, where a person is standingclosely. Upper leftshows a pagoda tower with birds flying around and a house hidden in the plants.Signed and sealed lower left by Li Keran, 李可染 (1907–1989), the painting is with fabric borders and framed underglass. The artist’s son, also an artist, signed on thefabric border at right in calligraphy andsealed to authenticate that the painting was truly made by his father.

About theartist: Li Keran was a renowned contemporary Chinese painter whose art pieceshave been saleed at some famous sale houses including Christie’s andSotheby’s.
