British Victor / c.1913–1920

This is an exceptionally rare large horn gramophone, the HMV Model 7, also known as the “Last Senior Monarch”, manufactured in oak.

Produced in Britain between approximately 1913 and 1920, this model represents the highest-grade horn gramophone ever produced by British Victor / HMV during the acoustic era.

• Among all American and British Victor horn gramophones, this model features the largest case size, comparable to the famous Victor No.5

• Triple-spring motor (three mainsprings) — the top-tier specification

• Oak version production was extremely limited
  → Only approx. 1,295 oak units produced

• Surviving examples are extremely scarce

• This model marks the final evolution of the Senior Monarch line, built with superior materials and craftsmanship

• Victor No.5: 68,582 units

• Victor No.6: 17,468 units

• HMV Model 7: approx. 2,712 units total

  • Oak version only ~1,295 units

As a result, the HMV Model 7 is often regarded as a “nearly mythical” gramophone among advanced collectors.

    • The HMV Model 7 is among the rarest of all Senior Monarch variants
