5 Family-Friendly Mother’s Day Ideas

Mother's day

May means celebrating the woman who matters most  — mom! Mother’s Day is the perfect time to let that special lady know just how important she is. How can you make mom feel like she’s number one on her ‘day’?

Check out these Mother’s Day activities for moms and kids to do together:

Make a meal. Sure, you want to treat mom to breakfast in bed. But, isn’t it more fun to have the whole family cook together? Plan a menu of items that the kids can help out with too (that means mom isn’t the only one in the kitchen on her day). Younger kids can measure and mix ingredients, while tweens and teens can do much of the prep work and cooking themselves (under mom’s supervision, of course).

Have an at-home spa day. Mix up some coarse sugar, a teaspoon of veggie or coconut oil and a dab of chocolate powder to create a DIY face scrub. Slather it on each other’s faces for your homemade spa experience. Paint each other’s nails, do each other’s make-up or create crafty braids.

Go on a nature walk. Head to the park, the backyard or the woods for a Mother’s Day nature walk. Bring a camera along or take a sketch pad and pencils for both of you to draw what you see.

Read a book. Pick a mom-and-child themed book and spend the afternoon sharing the story with each other. Take turns reading or act out the tale for the rest of the family.

Create a craft. Bring out your most Pinterest-worthy craft ideas and work on them together!
