St. Patrick’s Day Treats for Kids To Create
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a family-friendly cooking activity! Your kids can help you out in the kitchen, creating holiday-themed treats for everyone in the family to eat. Don’t worry if you’re not a master baker. These sweet recipes are easy enough for anyone to create.
If you have a heart shaped cookie cutter, you can make shamrock cookies. How can you create shamrocks from hearts. Use refrigerated, ready-made cookie dough as a base. Roll out the dough and cut it with the heart-shaped mold. Place the hearts onto a greased cookie sheet, arranging them in groups of three. Place the points facing in, with a heart on each side and one at the top. Add a thin strip of dough at the bottom to complete the shamrock shape. Bake the cookies, let them cool and then frost them with green icing!
Pot of Gold Cupcakes
Mix up a batch of vanilla cupcakes. Use your favorite recipe of a boxed mix. Add a few drops of green food coloring into the batter before you bake the cakes. After the cakes are baked and have cooled, frost each one with a gold-like yellow icing. If you can’t find yellow icing, make your own with white frosting and yellow food coloring. Add a special sparkle with gold or yellow crystal sugar. Place the cupcakes together on a cardboard pot of gold cut-out.
Leprechaun Hat Cakes
Bake another batch of green cupcakes for this tasty St. Patrick’s Day treat. After the cakes cool, remove them from the tins and the paper cupcake wrappers. Turn each cupcake upside down to make a hat shape. Frost the entire outside with green icing. Wrap a flat licorice strip around the base, just above the ‘brim’ of the hat. Add a shamrock-shaped sprinkle to the licorice with a bad of frosting.
