Santa Claus Hat Cupcakes
You’ve baked a batch of your favorite chocolate, vanilla or other flavor cupcakes. Now what? Instead of a splash of frosting, turn the treats into Santa hat-themed desserts. Bake a batch of sugar cookies. Instead of traditional circle shapes, use a cookie cutter to create triangles. After the cookies cool, frost them with red icing. Frost the top of the cupcakes with white icing, creating Santa-like hair. Place the triangle cookie on top and add a dab of white frosting to the point.
Does your toddler or preschooler want to help decorate the cupcakes? This idea is easy for kids of all ages. Give your littles a bowl of white icing and a spoon. Let them cover the cupcakes in “snow.” After the top of the cakes are snow-covered, they can add flurries with white sprinkles or crystal sugar.
Christmas Cookie Cupcakes
Combine cupcakes and Christmas cookies into one tasty treat! Spend the day baking Christmas cookies or, if you don’t have time, buy a dozen from the local bakery. Fill a bowl with white, red or green frosting. Choose a few of the cookies and crumble them into the frosting. Leave sizable chunks to add decor and color. Add red and green sprinkles and mix the frosting. Coat the cupcakes with the mixture to create a Christmas-themed treat.
