New Year’s Buffet Ideas for Your Family
Start the year of right with a stand-out homemade New Year’s Day breakfast or brunch! Your kiddos can help out in the kitchen, mixing, measuring, decorating and putting together creative treats. If you’re not sure what to make or where to start, check out these easy ideas for your fam’s holiday breakfast/brunch-time buffet.
Pancakes with Toppings
Mix up a batch of your favorite pancake recipe or buy a boxed option. Even though your littles can’t actually cook the cakes, they can measure the different ingredients and mix them up in a big ol’ bowl! Add a special surprise and sprinkle a few pinches of cinnamon into the mix. After you cook the pancakes, add an array of toppings to the holiday buffet. Include extras such as fresh sliced fruit, jam or preserves, whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, cinnamon sugar or chocolate chips.
Fairy Bread Toast
This whimsical treat will taste as good as it looks. Toast several slices of bread. You can use one type of bread or choose a few different options. Let the toast cool slightly. Slather it with butter. Decorate the toast with sprinkles, sprinkles and more sprinkles–all in different colors. Slice the toast diagonally and serve it as is.
Savory Breakfast Wraps
Scramble a dozen eggs for your family. Set the eggs aside on their own platter. Slightly warm wrap or burrito shells. Use plain shells, whole wheat or a combination. Place these next to the eggs. If your kiddos only want eggs, they can choose a wrap-less meal. But if they want more, they can roll the eggs in the wraps. Treat your more adventurous eaters to a selection of extras. Include bowls of shredded cheese, sliced raw veggies, sliced grilled veggies. ketchup or any other topping your family enjoys.
