Separate the batter into three bowls. Drip a few drops of red food coloring into one bowl, blue into another and leave the third plain. Now you’ll have a stack of red, a stack of white/plain and a stack of blue pancakes. Use these as a base for other holiday-themed accents and additions.
Red and Blue Berries
Add fresh cut strawberries, raspberries and blueberries to the Fourth of July pancakes. You can mix the fruit into the batter or sprinkle it on top of the cakes.
Sprinkle red, white and blue candies on top of the pancakes to turn your family’s breakfast into a sweet holiday treat. Use white chocolate chips and other easy-to-melt types of candy. Mix the candy with fresh fruit or spoon it onto whipped cream.
You don’t have to use plain whipped cream on your holiday pancakes. Create your own red and blue topping with food coloring. Follow the same steps you used to make red and blue pancakes, dripping a few drops of the food coloring into separate bowls of whipped cream. Stir the coloring and cream before you add it to your breakfast treats.
