National Aviation Day Party Recipe Ideas
Celebrate National Aviation Day with airplane themed snacks! Mark this special day with a kid-created party. Your children can help to whip up flight-y treats for their friends and family. Start with some research—and help your children to learn more about the history of aviation. Read non-fiction books or look up info online. After you’ve researched the subject, create a buffet of these plane party treats and sweets.
Turn regular sub sandwich roles into cute airplane hoagies. Slice six-inch hoagie buns in half. Fill the sandwiches with anything your child wants. Add deli meat, sliced cheese, lettuce and tomato, create a grilled veggie hoagie or make PB&J subs. Use condiments or jelly to draw windows and details onto the outside on the hoagie planes. Cut wings and a tail from cardboard. Press the edges of the cardboard into the sandwiches to complete the airplanes. Remind everyone to remove the cardboard before they eat the hoagies.
Airplane Cookies and Cupcakes
Use an airplane shaped mold or cookie cutter to create themed treats. Choose your favorite cookie recipe to bake. Cut the dough into airplane shapes, bake the cookies for your child and let them cool. After the cookies have cooled, your child can decorate them with their favorite frosting colors.
Make your own version of airplane food. Fill takeout containers with bags of homemade granola, rice cereal treats, peanut-filled cookies or anything else your child wants to help you to prep!
