World Friendship Day Cooking with Kids Activity
Celebrate World Friendship Day on July 30 with a fun family activity. Who was your child’s first friend? May it was you, your spouse or a sibling. Help your little learner to understand the importance of friendship with a fun-filled family interview activity. And bonus, this holiday idea doubles as a ‘kids in the kitchen’ cooking project.
Pick a Person to Interview
Who should your child interview? They can choose a ‘family friend’ (such as mom, dad or a sibling), a school friend or a pal from the neighborhood.
Choose a Question
What should your child ask their friend? The idea is to get to know the person better. Instead of general questions, this activity follows a theme—food. Have your child select food questions, such as, “What’s your favorite food?” or, “What meal do you like best?”
Make a Meal
Your child and their friend can work together to create the other person’s favorite food! Help your kiddo in the kitchen to mix, measure, prep and create. Serve the meal (or snack if that’s the friend’s choice) during a special World Friendship Day at-home celebration.
Document the Activity
Take photos throughout the process. Put the pictures together into a friendship book or poster after the activity is complete.
