Easy Halloween Party Treats

Rice Cereal Ghosts
Turn a batch of plain rice cereal bars into ghastly ghosts. Melt half a stick of butter on the stove. As the butter melts, mix in one bag of regular or mini marshmallows. You should do the melting/cooking steps yourself. Never allow your child to use a heated kitchen appliances. Remove the melted mix from the stove and spoon it into a heat-safe bowl or dish. Add the rice cereal and mix. Spread the the marshmallow-y cereal into a lightly greased shallow baking dish. Refrigerate the mix until it hardens. Frost the chilled treats with ghostly white icing and cut the sheet into rectangle-shaped bars. Add candy eyes to complete the ghost treats!
Bake a batch of your favorite cupcakes. Add a few drops of orange food coloring to the batter before you bake the cakes. After you bake the treats, let the cupcakes cool completely. Your child can mix orange frosting by adding food coloring to white icing. Frost the cupcakes and add a pumpkin-shaped candy corn to the top.
Jack O’Lantern Cookies
This kids’ cooking activity is easy for almost anyone to make. Instead of baking your own treats, cut down on the time it takes you to prep for the party and start with store-bought sugar cookies. Let your child frost the cookies with orange icing. After adding the orange base, they can create a jack o’lantern face with black icing or sprinkles.
