Easy Valentine’s Day Treat Ideas for Kids
Are you looking for an easy Valentine’s Day recipe? Your kiddos want to get creative in the kitchen. But you aren’t exactly an expert baker. Now what? Instead of skipping a holiday baking session, check out these easy recipe ideas!
Cut, Bake and Decorate Cookies
Forget about complicated cookie dough recipes. If you don’t have the time or energy to whip up a batch of your favorite cookies completely from scratch, you can always start with pre-made or refrigerated dough. Roll out the dough and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to create Valentine’s treats. Follow the dough’s instructions for baking. After the cookies bake and cool completely, give your kids a choice of decoration options. Scoop red and white frosting into separate bowls. The kids can mix the two together to make a third bowl of pink icing. Frost the cookies, add sprinkles, white chocolate chips, candy hearts or other holiday goodies to the top.
Cute Valentine’s Day Cupcakes
Choose a boxed mix of vanilla or white cake batter. Add a few drops of red food coloring into the mixed batter. The more drops you use, the redder the cupcakes will look. If your child wants to bake pink cakes, use the food coloring sparingly. After baking the cupcakes, let the desserts cool. Frost the cute cakes with red, white or pink icing and add a cherry to the top of each one. Give the cupcakes an extra kick and swap a plain sherry for the chocolate-covered version.
Valentine’s S’mores
A sweet s’more is the perfect way to celebrate this special day. Instead of the traditional dessert sandwich stacker, use white chocolate and festive pink strawberry or holiday-inspired marshmallows. If you can’t find pink marshmallows at the grocery store, make your own. Marinade regular marshmallows in strawberry sauce. Stack the chocolate and a marshmallow in between two graham crackers and heat in the microwave for 10 seconds or until the s’more starts to melt. Be careful! This treat will be hot when you take it out of the microwave. Wait for it to cool before handling or eating.
